Cheapfares Review

Popularity
Cheapfares.com is a little known travel booking website with a Google Pagerank of only 5. Now for the average website a Pagerank of 5 would be excellent but for a major travel booking site it is not. On Alexa.com you can see that Cheapfares.com has a traffic ranking of 114, 862 which means that it is the number 114, 862nd most visited site on the internet. While that is as bad as it may seem when you take into account the billions of sites that exist on the internet, it is however very low for travel reservation site.

Features
Cheapfares.com has quite a few features for a smaller travel site which include airfare booking, hotel reservations, car rentals, cruises, activities, last minute deals and vacation specials. There is also a feature called 1st & Business. So far I have not come accross any other travel site that has a special section dedicated to first and business class travel. If you click on the tab you will be taken to a simple page that claims they can save you up to 40% on domestic and international flights. You must fill out a simple form with all the normal information such as the departure city and return date but you must also leave your email address and phone number. The reason for this is that they will submit your travel request to many providers in order to get you the best price available and then get back to you within 24 hours on a business day.

Prices
In their last minute deals section you will find some pretty interesting offers. For example they have a flight/hotel package to Myrtle Beach, SC for only $233 per son which includes 3 nights in a hotel. They also have a flight/car rental deal for Pittsburgh, PA for only $166.

Overall Rating
The overal rating for Cheapfares.com is a 5.5 being that their layout is overly simplistic in nature and their offers a quite limited.

Priceline.com Review

Popularity
Priceline.com has a Google PageRank of 9 and 5,690 links coming to their front page alone. It is the 1,404th most visited website on the internet according to Alexa. What all of this means is that Priceline.com is probably one of the top 5 travel booking sites on the net in relation to its popularity.

Features
Priceline.com has all of the standard features found on most travel booking sites including flight scheduling, hotel reservations, car rentals, vacation packages, cruises and a tours (activities) section. They also have a special PriceBreakers feature that allows visitors to look at their latest hand-picked deals and offers. You can even sign up to have these offers mailed to you regularly. However, the most popular and original feature that Priceline.com has in its arsenal is the Name Your Own Price booking option.

Prices
They give you the choice of naming your own price and then waiting to see if your offer was accepted. The trick to saving money with this option is to first find the lowest deal on the internet that you can find for your flight and then trying priceline.com to name a price slightly lower. I suggest no more than a hundred dollars or else you probably won’t get your offer accepted.

Overall Rating
Priceline.com receives an overall rating of 8.0 for its PriceBreaker and Name Your Own Price features. The latter is highly original and unique to this particular website, which sets Priceline.com apart from the others. Its layout is simple and straight forward, which makes it easy to work with but there is a tendency to force you into booking flights with their Name Your Own Price feature. It can be slightly confusing as to how one books flights using the normal method on Priceline.com. I suggest you only use Priceline.com for their Name Your Own Price option using the strategy given above and not for the standard method of booking as there are many sites that do this better.
